Installing Stoney Brook Torn Paper "Malibu"
on a small barrel ceiling in Troutdale, OR.
I started by installing pieces on the sidewall above the molding.
When a piece laps onto the
barrel ceiling, there is an excess of material. After smoothing
out the material on the sidewall, the piece is trimmed at the ceiling
line. Next the remainder of the piece is smoothed onto the barrel
ceiling and the excess trimmed off for a crisp looking "inside
corner".
Working our way around the barrel ceiling, each
piece overlaps the previous.
Here you can see the dramatic transformation
taking place.
A chandelier will be installed after the torn paper.
A plastic smoother works better than a smoothing
brush when installing this material.
The woodwork in this home was beautiful.
The top piece has just been pasted. It's important
to get an even coat of adhesive on the back and not miss the edges
Just a couple more pieces and this installation
will be complete.
It was impossible to get the entire barrel ceiling in frame while
lying on the floor.
This view makes the ceiling look flat, but its
not.
This final view shows the arc of the barrel
ceiling.
